Handmade Home : DIY : before & after chair revamp...

it's been awhile since i made a Handmade Home post but now i'm back with a BEFORE & AFTER! I found this old, beat-up dining chair at the Burlington Antique Show during my recent visit for FIVE DOLLARS! The chair was obviously the victim of a bad fabric choice as its upholstery. :( I removed the seat, primed and painted it a bright new color to match my existing chairs and reupholstered the seat in a fun, bright print fabric....this is how easy it all was:1. remove the old fabric from the chair seat
2.cut a square piece of fabric, enough to cover and wrap around the bottom of the seat...you need about an inch of hang-over
3. pull the fabric taut and wrap around the bottom of the seat

we might be famous on American Pickers!

went to the amazing Burlington KY Antique Show yesterday for the first time...the show, American Pickers, was filming there so hopefully Matt & i will make an appearance in their "crowd" shots (no, they didn't interview us so we're just hoping that we don't get edited out and make it into a crowd shot)!!!! ...if you've never been to this antique show you HAVE TO GO at least once before you die...it is so fun, the vendors have variety & quality, the crowd is lively, you'll get great deals and get to see so much cool stuff & interact with so many interesting people... we spent $95 & nabbed a gorgeous mantel (photos to come) for our new house, two chairs (a Handmade Home DIY to come) & a piece of metal that Matt wanted (not sure really what to call it-looks like a garbage can lid)...the show is held once a month on the third Sunday so the next event will be August 12th and i hope to be back and bring a bigger truck or trailer...would've bought more if we could have fit it in my SUV...you live, you learn :) ...above are some shots so you can scout out your visit!Monday, May 23, 2011
