a soundtrack for a new year...

the time to make New Year's resolutions has come and gone... towards the end of January i like to revisit my list of things i said i'd do this year, to see how i'm doing... there's so much i want to accomplish this year...so many spiritual, physical, intellectual, professional goals that i desire to reach... every year i like to pick a theme...like for instance, last year was "self-discipline" which was shot to you-know-where when wedding prep madness hit in the summer... this year i think my theme is going to be "change"... when i'm frustrated because i have not reached a goal, i like to assess the reason why i have not been successful...like, i have not lost that lingering 10 lbs. beacuse i've been unwilling to CHANGE my lifestyle... CHANGE is important & exciting...it's hard but it keeps things fresh & interesting ... although i know it will be a lot of work, dedication & sacrifice, i'm so excited for this endeavor at the same time....i'm tired of failing ...this year i must keep my resolve instead of let myself slip easily back into old habits... New Years are full of HOPE for me... it's a clean slate to start over new, to recreate yourself into a person you respect more and who is closer to God...so here goes...this week i'll be sharing some of my lists of things i'm going to try to change this year

i draw a lot of inspiration from music... it's motivating... at the beginning of a New Year i like to have some great albums on hand to pep me up and keep me going when my resolution starts to wain...here's some songs i've picked for 2011

My Body by Young the Giant

The Cave by Mumford & Sons

Clementine by Sarah Jaffe

Butterflies & Hurricanes by Muse

Firecracker by Frazey Ford

also wanted to share some inspirational quotes to keep you going with your resolutions too: "There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning" -Louis L'Amour

"Anything you're good at contributes to happiness."
-Bertrand Russell

"A permanent state of transition is man's most noble condition."
-Juan Ramon Jimenez

If you have to make mistakes, make them good and big, don't be middling in anything if you can help it.
-Hildegard Knef
