here are some photos of the POSIES & PLUME booth at the craft show on Friday... lookin' good & festive for the holidays, huh? :) thanks to all who came out to support us! looking at these pictures makes me realize how much i LOVE to decorate retail space and gets my dreams all stirred up...
i talk to my friend Erin (from Monkey Said Bear) a lot about opening my own store front boutique full of handmade items by me & all my crafty friends...she shares the same aspirations, although she'd rather have a vintage boutique/bookstore/bakery rolled into one... we're meeting with a local business owner (of Sassy Fox) on Saturday to get the run-down of how she started her shop... it might amount to nothing but a chat, but then again it might inspire us to make our dreams a REALITY...who knows? it could go either way... one thing's for sure: having your own business is quite a lot of work and you have to be "Jane of all Trades" in most cases... here are some inspirational quotes taken from some articles that i've been collecting for awhile...
hopefully you're inspired too!
"I love everything about not having a typical day job. Even though my time is often limited, I own it. That sense of freedom is priceless. I definitely have moments of frustration because you can’t really “turn off” when you work for yourself, but overall, I wouldn’t have it any other way," says the face behind Verabel in this Quit Your Day Job article from Etsy.

then there's this blog post, from Elsie of Red Velvet, in which she says, "working independently (or at any "dream job") requires unanticipated sacrifice and years of hard work..."
i've always been ready to take on a challenge and try new things... been very inspired by this quote from Picasso "I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it." And then there's this one by Henry Adams, "They know enough who know how to learn."... keeping a teachable spirit is crucial...you win some, you loose some...so learn from both

oh also wanted to tell you, on Sunday i popped in Hey Tiger to chat about potentially consigning with their shop :) .... also on Sunday, i attended a great craft show at Mama's Hip featuring my friend Annie's great stuff from Cotton + Vine... Cotton + Vine just launched their new site and they're offering parties now! So FUN!!! Oh and look, Posies & Plume made the Friend Page! Woohoo! so things are progressing in the world of Posies & Plume... always an adventure and always hard work but always worth it and fun!
